Audient was founded in 1997 by David Dearden and Gareth Davies. Both previously worked at Soundcraft. Dearden was involved with studio designer Eddie Veale in building a custom console and private studio for John Lennon for his "Imagine" sessions. Later on, they built studios for two other Beatles, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
Audient's flagship designs would be their ASP8024, which has become very popular amongst many producers. The little brother of the ASP8024, the ASP4816 is also the console choice of Pete Townshend (The Who) for his private studio. You can watch his review here.
Recently, the company has entered the audio interface market, transferring their technical know-how and high quality preamp from their big consoles into the home studio environment. The iD series has come a long way since they became available back in 2013. They are featured packed and with a very affordable price tag. No wonder why they have been voted the best audio interfaces in their categories many times over.
