PURRER-mini - Overdrive
The PURRER-mini takes the essence of my original PURRER, streamlines the circuit and controls and manages to squeeze the main character and response of this very versatile and natural toned overdrive into the tiny Monochrome Series enclosure.
The PURRER is designed to keep the feel and tonality of your instrument and amplifier intact, whilst creating smooth and open low to medium gain overdrive. The wide frequency range and tonal response means it also works equally well for bass and other instruments, not just guitar.
The PURR control adjusts the amount of gain and overdrive being created by the PURRER-mini. Lower levels with give cleaner responses that can add a touch of compression and touch sensitive dynamics to your tone. Higher levels with create more overdrive, saturation and compression, whilst keeping the core tone and feel of our instrument and amplifier intact.
The LOUD control adjusts the master output volume, with a wide range of boost and cut available. As the PURRER-mini has minimal tonal colouration, at low gain levels it can also work very well as a clean signal booster.
The BITE control adjusts the treble frequency content and presence of the tone. The “natural” position for most guitars is around 12 - 2 O’Clock, with cut and boost available from there to warm or brighten up the tone.
There is a trim control within the PURRER-mini which adjust the bass content and fatness of the overdrive tone, like the MILK control on the original PURRER but just with slightly less range. I have preset this to what I consider the “natural” position, but the user can adjust this to taste for a tighter response with less low-end, or a fatter response with more bass content in the drive.
PURR = Gain/Overdrive
LOUD = Master output volume level.
BITE = Treble/presence
ON = True bypass footswitch with ON status indicate by lit white LED.
IN = 6.35mm (1/4”) mono jack cable input.
OUT = 6.35mm (1/4”) mono jack cable output.
9V = 9V DC 2.1mm centre negative power supply input. The current draw of the PURRER-mini is less than 10mA. I recommend using a good quality regulated 9V DC power supply.
MILK = Internal trim control for the low-end content and bass response of the drive.
